Can I notify DVLA online that I have scrapped my car?

When you sell your vehicle to a scrap car dealer, they can notify the DVLA of the sale electronically – just give them the V5C registration certificate and ask them to use the online service. You can also inform the DVLA that you have scrapped your car by going online or through the post. All you need is either the vehicle’s registration number or its 11-digit reference number from the V5C, as well as the name and address of the scrapyard. Once you have this information, simply follow the instructions on the website or fill out the required forms and send them in. The DVLA will then update their records accordingly. In either case, it is important to let the DVLA know as soon as possible so that we can keep our records up to date.
